Peregrine's Bible
Description
This Bible stands out for its idiomatic translation, that is, not for the mechanical transposition of Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek words into a modern language, but for proportional dynamic equivalences. What is sought is to reproduce the features of ancient languages in current languages. Through comparative stylistic analysis, we have reached an equivalence between the style of the original languages and the style of the neo-Latin languages, especially in narrative and poetic texts. The footnotes (two thirds of the entire text) were prepared for two purposes: exegetical and theological-pastoral. Exegesis allows us to understand the meaning of the text, the notes are open to theological-pastoral interpretation. This is the most beautiful and elegant translation of the Bible in our language, and it deserves mention because it seeks to reproduce the poetic style with which the Bible was written.
