Description
Saint Lucy was born in Sicily. It belongs to a wealthy family. His mother, Eutychus, was a widow and had promised to give his daughter as his wife to a young man his countryman. Luzia, however, inspired by God, made a vow of virginity for Christ's sake. So he did everything to postpone the nuptials. The bridegroom, seeing himself rejected, accused Luzia of being a Christian. He died a martyr in the year 303 and was buried at Syracuse. Since then it has been universally invoked as "Patron of the eyes or sight".
