History and Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

It was a beautiful day in Assisi, Italy, as Saint Francis walked the streets, spreading his message of love, compassion and peace. He was a humble man who had given up his wealth and status to live a life of poverty and believed that everyone should live in harmony with nature and each other.

St. Francis was known for his kindness to all creatures, big and small. He used to talk to the birds and animals and taught others to do the same. He believed that everything in nature was interconnected and that we should respect and care for our environment.

On this day, the anniversary of his death, people from all over the world gathered to remember and honor St. Francis. They shared stories of their lives and their teachings and prayed for peace and love to prevail in the world.

As the sun began to set, the crowd quieted down and candles were lit in memory of St. Francis. They recited a prayer in his honor, asking for his intercession and guidance in their own lives:

"Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is offense, forgiveness; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. with which we do not seek so much to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. Because it is in giving that we receive; it is in forgiving that we are forgiven; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life”.

The prayer echoed through the streets and the candles flickered in the darkness. People felt the spirit of San Francisco with them and knew that its message of love and compassion would continue to inspire generations to come.

As the night drew to a close, the people of Assisi vowed to carry on the legacy of St. Francis, to live a life of humility, love and kindness to all. They knew that he had shown them the way, and they prayed that they would be able to follow in his footsteps, guided by his love and light.
