Our Lady of Remedies is a title given to the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus, in the Catholic Church. This title is associated with the belief that Mary can bring relief and healing to those who pray to her.
The story of Our Lady of Remedies dates back to the 16th century, when Spanish conquistadors brought the image of the Virgin Mary to the Philippines. The image was enshrined in a church in Malolos, Bulacan, and was known as Nuestra Señora de los Remedios or Our Lady of Remedies.
The church became a popular place of pilgrimage, and many people came to pray to Mary for healing and protection. The feast of Our Lady of Remedies is celebrated on the 8th of September.
The prayer of Our Lady of Remedies is as follows:
"O Most Holy Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Remedies, refuge of sinners and health of the sick, with loving confidence we place ourselves under your maternal care. We beseech you, asking for your powerful intercession, so that we may obtain the grace of true repentance, total forgiveness of our sins and a firm resolution to amend our lives. We ask you to obtain for us from your Divine Son the grace to persevere in faith, live always in hope and remain firm in charity. Amen."
On the feast day of Our Lady of Remedies, Catholics attend mass and participate in processions in honor of the Virgin Mary. The day is also celebrated with cultural festivities, such as parades, traditional dances and gastronomic fairs.
