Saint Margaret's Day
Margaret was a pious and devout woman who lived in the 11th century. She was born in Hungary and later married the Scottish King, Malcolm III. She was known for her beauty, intelligence and generosity towards the poor.
One day, while she was collecting firewood, Daisy came across a group of lepers. Despite her fear and disgust, Margaret approached them and began offering them food and comfort. She even kissed his wounds, an act of pure love and compassion. Lepers were healed and Margaret became known for her healing powers.
Margaret was also instrumental in spreading Christianity in Scotland. She founded schools and monasteries, where she taught children and monks to read and write. She was a strong advocate for women's rights and fought for her education and social status.
Margaret died in 1093 and was canonized by the Catholic Church in 1250. Her feast is celebrated on November 16th.
Prayer
Dear Saint Margaret,
You were a beacon of light in a dark world, a shining example of love and compassion. You were a woman of great faith and devotion, and you lived your life with integrity and purpose.
We pray that you guide and inspire us to follow in your footsteps. Help us to see the beauty in all people, regardless of their station in life. Help us to serve others with humility and grace, just as you did.
We ask that you intercede on our behalf so that we may have the strength and courage to live our lives with purpose and meaning, just as you did.
Amen.
