Our Lady Pilgrim of Fatima is a title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary in reference to her apparitions to three shepherd children in Fátima, Portugal, in 1917. The children were Lúcia dos Santos and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto. The apparitions consisted of six visits between May and October 1917.
During the first visit, Our Lady would have asked the children to return to the same place on the 13th of each month for the next six months. During subsequent visits, she is said to have conveyed a series of messages and revelations to the children, including the famous "Three Secrets of Fatima".
Our Lady of Fatima's message is one of prayer, penance and devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. She is said to have asked the children and all who heard of the apparitions to pray the Rosary daily and make sacrifices for the conversion of sinners and for world peace.
The Feast of Our Lady of Fátima is celebrated on the 13th of May. The Sanctuary of Fátima in Portugal is a popular destination for pilgrims from all over the world, who come to pay homage to Our Lady and ask for her intercession.
Prayer to Our Lady of Fatima:
O Most Holy Virgin Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, you wished to appear to the children of Fatima and reveal a glorious message. We implore you, inspire in our hearts a fervent love for the recitation of the Rosary. Meditating on the mysteries of redemption that are remembered in them, we may obtain the graces and virtues we ask for, through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer.
Amen.
