Our Lady of Health is a title given to the Virgin Mary in the Catholic Church. She is venerated as the patroness of the sick and sick. Devotion to Our Lady of Health dates back to the 16th century in India.
History:
According to tradition, Our Lady of Health appeared to a shepherd boy named Vitorino Fernandes in the village of Vailankanni, Tamil Nadu, India, in the 16th century. She appeared to him twice and asked that a chapel be built in her honor. The boy conveyed the message to the local authorities, but they did not believe him. However, soon after, a Portuguese sailor who was caught in a storm off the coast of Vailankanni prayed to Nossa Senhora da Saúde for help, and miraculously, his ship was saved. This event convinced the local authorities to build a chapel in honor of Nossa Senhora da Saúde.
The chapel became a popular place of pilgrimage, and over the years many miracles took place there. The feast of Our Lady of Health is celebrated on the 8th of September every year and is a significant event for Christians in India.
Prayer:
Oh Most Holy Virgin!
You have been chosen by the loveliest Trinity
From all eternity to be the most pure Mother of Jesus.
O Tender Mother of the afflicted!
Grant me under my present needs
That special protection you promised
To those who devoutly celebrate this ineffable joy.
Trusting in Your goodness, O Mother Mary!
I humbly ask you to help me in my current need
(Mention your request here).
Grant me what I ask of you, on the merits
Of Jesus Christ, Your Son and my Lord.
Amen.
Our Lady of Health, pray for us!
