Official statue of the centenary celebrations of the image of Our Lady of Fatima

The statue of Our Lady of Fatima, which is venerated in the Capelinha das Aparições is now 100 years old, the sculpture has become one of the most well-known and replicated Marian icons worldwide.

The statue was ordered in 1919 by the devour Gilberto Fernades dos Santos, to the Fânzeres de Braga house, to the sculptor / stone maker José Ferreira Thedim.

José Ferreira Thedim, became the author of one of the most important symbols of the Catholic Church, supported himself in a catalog, where the image of Nossa Senhora da Lapa (venerated in Ponte de Lima) appeared to sculpt the Image of Nossa Senhora de Fátima. 

Father Manuel Nunes Formigão also helped to create the statue of Nossa Senhora do Rosário de Fátima, reporting to the sculptor testimonies of the three little shepherds of Fátima.

100 years later the Official Statue of the centenary celebrations of the Image of Our Lady of Fatima is created , through an initiative by some local manufacturers, the Fatima Merchants Association (ACISO) and the Portuguese Coin House.

This solidarity initiative supports Casa de São Miguel de Fátima, which provides a charitable service to young people and children at risk, thus reversing € 1 for each image sold for this solidarity cause.
